Early 20th Cent. Two Sided Medal N.S Di Puntelungo Hand Painted Enameled in Sterling Frame - High Rarity

Presented here is an early 20th Century Extremely RARE medal of Mary as Nostra Signora di Puntelungo represented is Mary and Child Crowned

The medal is hand painted on porcelain, then Kiln fired, Enameled and inserted in a sterling frame.
The hand work is extremely very fine.

Among the various titles with which the Catholic Church venerates Mary, mother of Jesus, is that of Our Lady Puntelungo In Albenga. It is linked to the sanctuary of same name built near the city of Albenga on the Ligurian coast between San Remo and Genoa, near an old long Roman Bridge, wherefrom the name of Long Bridge: Puntelungo. This bridge may be seen still today as in the pictures.

The devotion to the N.S. de Puntelungo began in 1637 - on 2nd July, which is still celebrated today - when Saracen pirates were driven away from a massacre by a miracle perpetrated by the our lady of Puntelungo. In the 1700' a church still active today has been erected there.
