Vintage Bloodstone and Sterling Catholic Rosary Ca.1900 Many Rare Medals – French - XXXR

All Antique and Vintage Rosaries that I list come from my private collection.
They are genuine antiques – older than 100 years – or genuine vintages – from 30 to 100 years old.
All are in perfect condition and still very much usable.
They are unique and a real pleasure to collect or still use.


The item in this listing has the following characteristics:

This is a French Rosary with 7 Rare medals. It is large and impressive and gives great pleasure in handling

The rosary itself, from its style, dates from the beginning of the 20th Century. Medals vary in age as is usually the case as it was habitual that the owner has added to his rosary older medals that he got from his family.
The final aspect is an awesome item with great attractiveness.

Blood Stone or Heliotrope is a dark green Gemstone with blood red streaks that was used in Rosaries as the red streaks reminded of the Blood of Christ.

1. 9 mm average dia. Gemstone Blood stone ( Heliotrope) beads for the Ave Marias and 11 mm sterling silver capped beads for the Pater Nosters also in Heliotrope.

2. The Rosary center is also made of faceted gemstone blood stone which is very rare and of great beauty

3. Attached to the Rosary are medals, of which 6 are stamped sterling silver medals, all which may be seen on close up in the pictures.

4. Sterling Silver cross 40 X 25 mm without the bail. Please look at the picture closely. It is marked : " Souvenir de Paray le Monial"

5. All Metal parts of the rosary are Sterling Silver.

6. 6. Total length : 55 cm (22 in.) -- Total weight : a heavy 94 grams !!

7. One medals is enameled : With the Sacred heart

8. The 6 sterling medals are as follows :

a- One with the Chalice - a first communion medal. It is monogrammed with G and D and is dated : 24 April 1904.

b- One round sterling medal with Mary and the child in solemn dress on one side and the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the other side. It is signed and stamped.

c- One round sterling medal of N.D. du Bon Secours.

d- One sterling medal, heart shaped of Lourdes.

e- One sterling medal of the Sacred Heart in Cross shape.

f- Next to the cross a very rare Sterling Miraculous medal, very probably for the first ones that were made.

This item is exceptional and of great rarity; it is over 80 years old and still in pristine condition. Very heavy in Sterling with a lot of very rare Sterling Silver medals.
