Vintage Faceted Lapis w Vermeil Catholic Rosary in Hand Painted Shell & Metal Box SPECIAL AMANDA DAVID

All Antique and Vintage Rosaries that I list come from my private collection. They are genuine antiques – older than 100 years – or genuine vintages – from 30 to 100 years old. All are in perfect condition and still very much usable. They are unique and a real pleasure to collect or still use.

The item in this listing has the following characteristics:

The rosary and its hand painted shell and metal box are made in France in the early 1920's. It is very rare and pristine condition.

1) 4.5 mm average dia. faceted Lapis Lazuli beads for the Ave Marias and same for the Pater Nosters. These are all hand faceted vintage Lapis beads which may be witnessed by the little difference between beads.

3) All Metal Parts of the rosary are Vermeil which is gold plated Sterling Silver. Hallmarks on the cross.

4) The Box is the most interesting part of the set : It is made of shell for the upper part in a metal setting. The lower part of the box is also metal. The metal is brass. The interesting part is the very colorful and nicely made hand painting on the shell part. This is very rarely seen and makes this set a real collector's item.

5) The rosary is sold with its box, as a set.

6. It was very fashionable in the first part of the 20th century make rosary boxes from shells. This is a rare example of a painted one.
