Large Antique Mary Medal by Mazzoni w hand Made 1940's Chain all Sterling

Presented here is a very fine item, rarely seen : A large and heavy sterling silver medal of the Virgin Mary, dating very probably to the 1920's, engraved and signed by maker and by engraver.

The pendant is high relief and made in France. It is made by the famous French Silver makers AUGIS - still active today- and carved by the famous J. Mazzoni, wo was a very well known and appreciated French sculptor and carver in the art Deco Period. His signature is very well recognizable as may be seen from the close up picture.

The Sterling silver chain is of an exceptional design and entirely hand made. Although fitting perfectly the chain dates most probably from the 1940's

This is a very seldom seen item which carries a lot of attraction and beauty..

It is in pristine condition.

Diameter of the medal is 35 mm - ( 1.4 in) excluding the bail -
Weight of the medal alone is a heavy 20.0 grams.
The chain is 45 cm ( 18 in.) long and 15.9 grams in weight.
Total sterling silver weight : 35.9 grams -- about 1.2 troy ounces !!!
