Late 19th Cent. Garnet & Vermeil Rosary in Valuable Shell Box High Rarity

They are genuine antiques – older than 100 years – or genuine vintages – from 30 to 100 years old.
All are in perfect condition and still very much usable. They are unique and a real pleasure to collect or still use.

This is a 5 decade Catholic Rosary of French origin dating from the late days of the 19th Century,days of Art Nouveau.

It is made of 19th Century Vermeil with fine Garnet beads.¨
19th Century Vermeil differs from Vermeil nowadays in that the procedure to cover the silver with Gold was not electroplating but recovering manually silver with a gold leaf.
This gave vermeil a much longer life and thicker layers.

Beads are top quality plain round Garnet beads. French stamps of the Boar prove this on the center and cross and the chain has been tested.

The Pater beads are very nicely made round medals with Mary on one side and on the other side Jesus with the Cross, Sacred heart and the Chalice .

The Rosary comes in a rare and very valuable Shell box, easily recognisable from the detailed pictures.

This is a very rare item as it is was unusual to see such items for all the aspects it presents.

It is presented in a rare box best described in the pictures. The box is made of bone, had crafted in a very intricate open work.

The Rosary condition is excellent and pristine.

The style from the designs on the cross and center clearly indicate a late Art Deco style.

It is especially charming and the beautiful Lapis Lazuli beads suit perfectly the gold chain, center and cross.

Beads have 6.5 mm diameter for Aves
The cross is 45 x 25 mm and the total length of the rosary is approx. 48 centimeters. It will easily go over the head to be worn.
The weight of the rosary is 38 grams .
The weight of the box is 4.15 grams. The box is 80x35x20 mm ( 3.2x1.4x0.8in) in size
