19th Cent. Pendant and Brooch Hand Painted Miniature St Therese in Vermeil Filigree Frame w chain

Presented here is a very exceptional and rare item : A hand painted quite dramatic miniature of the late 19th Century representing Saint Therese inserted in a filigree sterling silver and vermeil frame, with accompanying vermeil chain of later days. This item may be worn as a pendant as well as a brooch.

The work is very finely executed with precision and neatness with colors still very sharp.

The scene is very clear and vivid with colors : we see Saint Therese holding a crucifix and a bouquet of Roses - her symbol.

The frame in filigree Vermeil ( Gold plated sterling silver) and silver is extremely fine, very well and neatly made, a real beauty and seldom seen shape.

The miniature and frame date from the late part of the 19th century.

Both are in pristine condition.

The chain is included as a gift : it is a gold plated vintage chain – 55 cm
