18 K Gold Plique-à-Jour Pendant Holy Cross w Corpus Pristine early XXth Cent. Museum Item

Presented here is a very rarely seen : 18 carat Solid Gold pendant medal of the Holy Cross with a dramatic Corpus , dating back to the early days of the XXth Century, with rare and unique features thatmake it unique and of Museum quality as follows :

a) Its measurements are : 60 x 40 mm ( 2.4 x 1.6 in.) incl. of bail

b) It has a great design and a very dramatic Jesus Corpus with great details. This is an extremely rarely seen such item.

c) Its has a heavy weight of 8.82 grams of 18 carat gold. It is in Pristine condition.

d) It is made using the “Plique-à-jour” technique : Plique-à-jour (French for "letting in daylight") is a vitreous enameling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel. All intact plique-à-jour medals are very rare today.

e) The pendant is high relief and made in France. It is hallmarked with an Eagle's head which is the French Hallmark for 18 carat Gold. The bail s laso beautiful

The chain in the picture is included in the offer. It is not gold but gold plated and although vintage not of the same peiod as the cross.

Pictures have been taken so that the beautiful Plique-à-jour effect is well seen, also under different lightings.
