Antique Genuine SAPHIRET and Sterling Unique Catholic Rosary Bracelet - Top Rarity

All Antique and Vintage Rosaries that I list come from my private collection. They are genuine antiques – older than 100 years – or genuine vintages – from 30 to 100 years old. All are in perfect condition and still very much usable. They are unique and a real pleasure to collect or still use.

The very exceptional and extremely rare item in this listing has the following characteristics:

This is a Rosary Bracelet of French origin dating from the second half of the 19th century made with rare SAPHIRET beads ( sea explanation here below)

I). 7 mm average dia. SAPHIRET beads for the Ave Marias.

II). 10 mm dia SAPHIRET bead for the Pater Noster.

III). Each bead in the rosary is capped by two Sterling bead caps as may be seen from the pictures.

IV). Attached is a cross, an anchor and a heart - ALL Sterling Silver - representing the 3 Theologal virtues : Faith, Hope and Charity.

IV). The clasp is a Sterling Silver Toggle clasp.

V). Total length : 18 cm (7.2 in.) -- Rings may be added or removed to change size - on request.

Saphiret glass was made in Gablonz, Czechoslovakia, in the mid XIXth Century.
The process was to mix melted gold in sapphire blue glass.
The result was an opaque to semi opaque glass that had a range of colors from pinkish brown to red with soft glowing blue reflections on the surface and which had the particularity to change color and contrast under different lightings and backgrounds.
Production was stopped very early 20th century because of the increase of gold prices. So all saphiret items are pre Art deco, mostly Victorian/Edwardian.
Today genuine saphirets are of high rarity and much sought after stones by collectors.

This antique item is exceptional in all respects and of great rarity, it is well over a 100 years old and still in pristine condition. It is a real heirloom which may be passed on to next generations and the value of which will increase a lot with years to come.
