Presented here is a very pleasant 18 K Gold pendant, dating back to the 1920's period with very nice featuress :
a) It has measurements of 32 x 25 mm ( without bail ) . I has an open work frame, rarely seen in such medals giving a great effect.
b) Its weight is a heavy 5.80 grams.
c) It is made using the “Plique-à-jour” technique : Plique-à-jour (French for "letting in daylight") is a vitreous enameling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel. This is an extremely difficult technique.
d) The pendant is high relief and made in France. It is very close in style to medals made by the famous J. Mazzoni, who was a very well known and appreciated French sculptor and carver in the art Deco Period.
e) The pendant is very probably either a birth or a first communion gift.
f) The chain in the picture is NOT included in the offer.
g) Eagle French 18K Carat hallmark.
Pictures have been taken so that the beautiful Plique-à-jour effect is well seen.
This very rare item is highly attractive and extremely well done. In an exceptional " as new " condition, it is definitely a unique heirloom.
